Portsmouth City of Sanctuary host projects throughout the year that promote community cohesion, engagement and celebrate the diversity of Portsmouth. We encourage local asylum seekers to volunteer with local organisations, help out at local groups, food banks or church groups, come together in arts and creativity. We are thankful to our funders, supporters and the local communities who come together to participate in many projects that promote integration of refugees and asylum seekers.
Celebrating The Queens Platinum Jubilee
We were very fortunate to host a fantastic Jubilee concert to mark the Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. Local artists teamed up with local refugees and asylum seekers to create a fantastic cultural concert. We would like to thank – Majid, Rhisky, DrumNation, Africapella, Sen Sen, and Salsa Katanga all of whom are local musicians. We are thankful to the ARTS Council and HIWFC for the funding.

Dockyard Tours
We have dockyard tours planned as part of this years summer schedule. The tour will enable local asylum seekers to understand the history and heritage of Portsmouth, the importance of the dockyard and visit some iconic ships! The tours will see just over 80 of our service users participate.
Shore/ Beach Clean – Up
This project truly brings communities together! Local asylum seekers team up with local residents to clean up the shores. We have partnered with The GoodGym, Southsea Beach Cafe, JetSem, Action Asylum and First Bus.
