The LGBTQ+ monthly club is part of a project called Colour Me Safe supported by funding from Arts Council England.
At the monthly club, a series of multi-disciplinary creative workshops are taking place. The workshops have an Illustrative Lens to allow participants to explore a wide range of ‘mark making’ and creative expression ranging from traditional 2D portraiture and reportage to printmaking and 3D mask making.
Each Session offers the opportunity for participants to create their own tangible piece of Illustrative work which can be taken home.
The Illustrative Lens allows for exploration of storytelling through a variety of mediums, developing critical thinking and empowering the participant to take ownership of their creative work.
In each session, there is a brief presentation of relevant artists used as inspiration. Open to all skill levels, the workshops encourage reflection on personal experiences and the club fosters a collaborative environment, encouraging discussion and reflection on the work produced as a group.
PCoS hopes that the workshops will build confidence and understanding in participants, exploring how you may begin to translate these experiences into the physical space and within artworks created.
